he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
1Ti 6:4-5
How often do we fit this description? How many "spiritual" discussions fall under the category of "controversial questions and disputes about words"? I think Christians need to be more careful discuss "things which make for peace and the building up of one another." Rom 14:19
Lord, help me to avoid questions that are controversial and only create strife. Help me to speak things that build up those around me. I want You to control my tongue in everything I say. I ask You to speak through me so that my words may be a blessing.
